Separation Anxiety Training For Real Life

Does your dog bark, howl, or cry as soon as you walk out the door?

Do you come home to scratched doors, chewed frames, or damaged crates?

Is your dog having accidents inside even though they are normally house trained?

Pacing, panting, drooling, or refusal to eat when alone?

Many guardians in Austin and beyond feel trapped at home.

If this sounds familiar, you and your dog are not alone in this struggle.

What Separation Anxiety Is Not

  • Separation anxiety is not spite or anger.

  • Your dog is not “getting back at you” for leaving.

Separation anxiety is a panic response to being alone or away from beloved people.

Dogs in this state are scared, not stubborn or disobedient.

Because of that, punishment and “tough love” only add more fear.

Our work together is rooted in empathy for both dogs and thier humans.

Dog Trainer Behavior

Strange Dogs Behavior and Training helps dogs who panic when left alone feel safe about alone time.

We focus on separation anxiety support for Austin and Central Texas, and work with guardians worldwide through virtual coaching.

How Support Works

We model and structure around modern separation anxiety protocols. You get clear guidance and steady partnership instead of trying to figure this out alone.

Why Virtual Training Makes Sense

Separation anxiety happens in your home, not in a training center.

That is why leading experts now consider remote coaching best practice.

Working virtually lets us:

  • Watch your dog in their real life home environment

  • Tailor plans to your actual schedule and routines

  • Support you without adding more stress for your dog

From Austin apartments to homes around the world, the process stays flexible and accessible.

So, Here’s What To Expect:

  • Initial assessment and case history

  • Weekly support through short missions tailored to your dog daily and broken into steps that fit right into your day

  • A dedicated half hour live reassessment each week

  • Packages in four week blocks, with space to reassess before moving forward together

  • Collaboration with your  family vet or veterinary behaviorist

  • You’ll feel seen, understood, and supported

The nuts and bolts of training will be covered in your Discovery Call.

Scott’s desensitization approach helped Jagger become less reactive and anxious through daily exposure. As time goes on, seeing your pet grow and become more secure should encourage you that your hard work is worth it. Every dog has a different pace, so make sure to stop and appreciate the little improvements as you go. We are 6 weeks ‘graduated’ from our hands on sessions and just got to celebrate 3 hours alone!

You Are Not Failing Your Dog

Many guardians feel guilt, embarrassment, or frustration about separation anxiety.

You may have been told it is your fault for spoiling your dog or letting them sleep on the bed.

Current research does not support those blame stories.

Separation anxiety is a complex, emotional condition, not a simple training mistake.

At Strange Dogs Behavior and Training, we start from compassion, not judgment.

Next Steps

If you are reading this, you have already taken a first step for your dog.
The next step will be a Discovery Call where we talk through your situation and goals.

On that call, we can discuss whether our four week virtual support blocks are a good fit.
You will have time to ask questions and share what daily life looks like for you and your dog.

When you imagine leaving home without dread, what would you most want to change first: the noise, the destruction, or the worry you feel all day?
