Who We Are
About Strange Dogs Behavior and Training
Strange Dogs Training is a behavior consulting practice dedicated to dogs whose needs fall outside the scope of basic manners classes: dogs with fear, anxiety, aggression, reactivity, and complex separation-related challenges. The work combines applied behavior science with a deep respect for canine emotional welfare and the realities of living with a sensitive dog in the modern world.
About Scott Moran, CBCC-KA, CSAT, FDM, FFCP
Scott Moran is a certified canine behavior consultant (CBCC-KA), certified separation anxiety trainer (CSAT), and Fear Free Certified Professional (FFCP) based in Austin, Texas. He specializes in working with dogs experiencing complex behavior challenges, including separation anxiety, fear and anxiety-related aggression, reactivity, and stranger-directed behaviors.
His work is grounded in a force-free, welfare-first approach that prioritizes both the dog’s emotional experience and the human side of the relationship. Scott helps guardians understand the underlying causes of behavior, reduce stress in daily life, and build practical, sustainable plans that support long-term change.
With multiple advanced certifications and a focus on high-complexity cases, Scott is often sought out for dogs who have not improved with previous training or whose behavior requires a more nuanced, behavior-focused approach.
Scott currently serves as a Lead Dog Behavior Follow-Up Trainer with Austin Pets Alive!, where he supports foster caregivers and adopters working with high-need dogs. His work frequently centers on preventing returns by developing realistic, accessible plans for dogs with more severe or escalating behavior concerns.
In addition to his CBCC-KA, CSAT, and FFCP credentials, Scott is a Family Dog Mediator (FDM), certified in Emotional CPR (eCPR), and a member of the Association for Professional Dog Training (APDT) and International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAACP). He actively pursues continuing education to stay aligned with current, evidence-based practices in behavior science.
He works collaboratively with both clients and fellow professionals to support nuanced cases with clarity, empathy, and respect for everyone involved.
